vCSG-3 Stands Up FITRON 111

Strike Group Three is proud to announce the activation of VF-111 "Sundowners" as they take flight in the F-14A Tomcat. FITRON 111, originally formed in 1942 saw action in the Pacific Theater of Operations during World War II and operated aircraft including the F4F Wildcat, F8F Bearcat and FJ-3 Fury.

When asked about the road ahead, VF-111 Commanding Officer, CDR J. "Piddles" Miller stated that he was excited for the challenges which the F-14A airframe presented as well as the shirtless beach volleyball tournaments, where he looked forward to crushing pilots from CSG-3's existing F-14 squadron, VF-103 "Jolly Rogers."
